Re: For the Love of Manga
And apparently Ronnie is unimpressed. ;-) Judging by Cat's ears, Ronnie may also have something to say about people who waste their time and money on them.
Re: For the Love of Manga
One reason I don't like animé or manga is because they keep recycling the same character faces. And what's with that woman who has rectangular eyeballs that extend 1 inch from the sides of her head?
Re: For the Love of Manga
Based on the sneak peak, I was half expecting Ronnie to say something straight-up disparaging (as in serious rather than humorous) about Cat's comic. Expectations have been dashed in a hilariously good way--for now, at any rate. I remember Ronnie enjoyed joining Cat in the anime marathon, so I'd put my money on her not having a serious bias against manga in general, but she might still have a few criticisms for Nekotaku specifically, possibly more about the characters and plot than the art...
...and I'd probably agree with her on at least some of them. ^^;

She's prepared for trouble and protecting the world from devastation!

And denouncing the evils of truth and love!
And blasting off at the speed of light!
(Her partner's got the other stuff covered, right?)

This other generic woman was also blonde. Her design was used for "Nova" in Space Battleship Yamato, and for someone in Galaxy 999.
Her hair reached her knees, I think.

You'll find this is fairly prevalent in most animated works: creatures of the same species tend to look identical despite the artists attempts to differentiate them. It's a cost-cutting measure. When you need to draw as much as possible in as short a time as possible, you cut down on the number of different things you need to produce. As an extreme example, consider MLP:FIM. There are a total of, what, two primary character models (male and female)? This issue is why a mix of anthropomorphic animals are so popular for cartoons in American animation: it makes the individual characters easy to distinguish. Among Japanese animation, the distinctions are generally made with unique hairstyles (much the same way MLP:FIM makes use of color coding and manes). The use of unique hair has led to innumerable jokes about 'anime hair'. I wouldn't be surprised if there were similar jokes in Japan about our use of animals.
On the opposite side of the issue are works that decidedly do NOT use recycled or simplified animation techniques. For an anime example, go watch Akira. Or read the Akira manga. Or both. For American animation, perhaps you could consider the townsfolk of Beauty and the Beast (the castle denizens fall under 'anthropomorphic').
Finally, American animation isn't immune from shortcuts either. Phineas and Ferb are anthropomorphic shapes...

Aww... Poor Cat...
I feel bad for her, I know how it it feels when people hate on the things you cherish. It hurts, man.
P.S. Unamused Pig-Dude is unamused.
P.P.S. I like Cat's shirt. It's adorable. :3

Oh man, I'm sensing there might be a little love triangle-esque thing going on between hunter, the dog girl, and the pig (or at the very least, that's my head canon now)

Re: For the Love of Manga
Oh my gosh. That face at the bottom... I wanna hug Cat so badly.
To echo Cat's response to NekOtaku a few pages back, except this time in response to her situation, I'm sure Hunter wouldn't mind that she reads comics, even if he himself isn't particularly interested in them. If he tries to talk to you, please don't run away, Cat!
On another note, never have I been more convinced that Cat should DEFINITELY meet David at some point.

At first I thought that Hunter doesn't know how "Pokémon" is spelled, then I remembered this:

Yay, someone got the reference-even when I misspelled it!

I thought the exact same thing! And Hunter is oblivious to both of them and has eyes for Cat only for dating. =P

Hey! I think I know what's going on here! Cat and Hunter are going to re-enact the scene from the manga, he's going to see that she likes manga and is going to realize that is a way to get her closer to him and he's going to get his brother to help him learn to like manga! Am I right? Tell me I'm right! XD

Challengers: they always appear...
Actually, this seems more "rival" material, I'm sure you get the point.
