On a more serious note, I'm curious what it is that Chad doesn't. And it can't be too amazingly bad since we already know they're going on another double-date. Also, I'm assuming he and Mariah have already had their DTR since it was a while ago that she had mentioned it. And since they are still together, I'm guessing it went well enough...

Oh dear. Well, as Latrans pointed out, it's probably not anything apocalyptic, given what we know. Still, Mariah's awfully upset.

Is it just me or do the mice in this universe all have some odd personality quirk? Mariah, Psycho Mouse and Ronnie's boss at the Gulp'N'Go.

It's so funny since I am a Member of the LDS church, but I grew up in the state kitty corner to Utah.
I've seen this kind of reaction from many people who move from the "Zion on the mount" of Salt Lake City to my city where "Breaking Bad" was filmed.
Once they are out of a majority Mormon population, everything around them is very hard, because they are so far outside their comfort zone.
This is what I love about this Comic, not only the spectacular artwork, but the character development, and interesting subjects.
In other words, the writing is just as fascinating as the art is a pleasure to look at!

The thing is, I have a strong feeling that the immodesty of the dress isn't what this is about, more like an excuse to cover the real issue. I think the issue is Mariah's date may have been paying a little too much attention to Vikki, though it may not be in the way your're thinking, but in the sense that Vikki made him very uncomfortable and probably chewed Mariah out about inviting her. It's also a good thing that Mariah didn't grow up in a Purtian-type community or an Amish community because what SHE is wearing would be considered immodest. All the Amish women I've seen wear skirts nearly down to their ankles and sleeves to their wrists and some type of hair covering, and Heaven forbid they wear heels.

*giggles* Can't wait Ronnie's reaction to all this. So far, the silliest reason to fight over. XD I really am glad I don't live in Utah, let alone go there for university or college. I am curious where will all this end up being.
I never took Vikki's roommates seriously tho.

I agree with you about... 80%? 90%? I think your hypothesis regarding what happened is sound, and I agree there's more to this fight than the immodesty of the dress, but I think I'd call it more of a catalyst than an excuse or cover. I think the fight's become about a lot more than what happened on the date, even. Sarah didn't look ticked off until Mariah criticized her own dress habits. That was basically an accusation of immorality and an attack on Sarah's honor--or at least I think that's how she took it.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing how the rest of this arc unfolds and how it will be resolved. It looks like things are getting really intense.

Yay! Rational Helen takes charge! But Sarah does have a point. Mariah can hardly accuse her of flouting rules if she herself also does it. Whether she's doing anything wrong with Chad or not, she's still out after curfew.
