Re: Daddy's Girl Part 2
I think I found the "one thing" Ronnie likes about Betty! I bet Betty is as concerned for Ronnie's dad's health as she is

Yyyyyy-UP! Ronnie's just found a back-up for all the times she can't keep an eye on Daddy!
Re: Daddy's Girl Part 2
He could drink diet root beer. No sugar and it tastes as good as the non-diet kind.

That depends on the brand. In my experience, at least, most diet root beers are pretty horrid; IBC and Hansen's are the only two I can think of that have managed to get it right.
(Plus, the restaurant probably doesn't have that anyway. If your local restaurants offer more than just diet cola and unsweetened iced tea, count yourself fortunate; that's about all you can get in most sit-down restaurants. Heck, you can't even find regular root beer in most places, much less the diet kind!)

Just curious, but is that the same restaurant he took Ronnie, Cat and Dawn to in an earlier arc?

Aw, man - that would've been awesome! Why didn't I do that? ^^;
This arc's restaurant is actually inspired by La Jolla Groves in Utah.
And last page of the arc:
Patron cameos include Nitysus, Kirk and Alan!

I nailed it! Betty is a member of the LDS church!!!!
It was her “Vicki’s roommates” style smile that gave it away for me!

Camping trip? I love camping trips!
Ahem. Anyway. Expressions are great as always. I particularly like the small, shy smiles in Panel Two and Ronnie's facial progression in the last three panels.
True. But I suspect she feels ambivalent at best toward Sarah and Mariah. She still dislikes aspects of Mormon culture, and that dislike is intensified and embittered by the hurt Hayden inflicted. It's also one thing to have friends who practice Mormonism and another to have a potentially-someday-stepmom practice it. Friends are... gosh, this is going to sound cynical, but friends are easier to keep boundaries with and get away from, if need be. With family, you don't handpick 'em yourself and there's an expectation for you to try to get along. Betty's also more outgoing than Cat or Helen, and thus more inclined to invite Ronnie to church community events--as she did on this page.
