Well I see Alice is having some salt in her veins after that.

So their team is the Eagles? Is that the equivalent of a team named the Utes, or Seminoles or *gasp* Redskins?

Re: Louis's Love
That do have to sting, but that should let you know that Louis is not in love with you, Alice. Of course, it won't, because all she cares about is her "rivalry" with Diana, and a slight that may or may not have been as bad as Alice remembers it being. Oh, well.

Re: Louis's Love
Let me guess, Diana "borrowed" that fabric? Alice may be morally ambiguous, but so is Diana in my opinion. So we have a liar and a thief competing for a guy's affection.

Oh yeah, definitely agree with you there, except I don't think Diana's trying to get Louis's affection. It's more like this:
Alice -- infatuated with ---> Louis
Louis -- infatuated with ---> Diana
Diana -- infatuated with ---> her dreams... and stealing other people's stuff to make them happen. Louis is a willing accomplice, so she seeks his time and attention for that purpose. Maybe she also values his friendship. I want to believe that she does, but...
It appears Diana didn't talk to him at all until she wanted his help with something. I don't know if she values him (consciously or subconsciously) mostly for his labor or if she's so used to hanging out with him on a he-helps-her basis that that's her default for breaking the ice and/or trying to bond.

If Diana's fashion career fails to develop, she could have a promising future in government accounting.
She's also going to learn the importance of "half up front to start". The hard way.

Re: Louis's Love
Diana probably will learn some things here. But good for her, she gets to learn them at a young age.
Frankly, I like Diana a lot, and her drive for her dream and business sense, even when it causes her to make mistakes, is part of that. Again it's good that she is making those mistakes now. And in general those who err in being bold benefit more than those who err in being passive (or in the pursuit of the wrong things).
I think a little of it is, looking back, just going through school, HS, then college, then grad, then assuming you have a well paying career waiting for you when you get out was a big mistake for me that I see a lot of people make. I wasn't able to comment on previous arcs but I've felt that way about Diana's dream for awhile. I know it is easy to criticize her for going overboard, seeming too zealous, but that's better than the alternative of being passive or locked in on frivolous things.
It's clear that that passion is part of what draws Louis to her. The irony is that Alice is singularly focused on "Getting Louis" as her goal while Diana has her mind set on pursuing her passions, dreams, interests, and challenging herself. And in doing that she makes herself attractive to the sort of person who can appreciate that and share in her sucess and failures.

Re: Louis's Love
Agreed, the cars are awesome!
On Diana: I respect and even envy her for knowing what she wants and going after it so full-heartedly. She just rubs me the wrong way because she keeps stealing things: her mother's yarn, her brother's pencils, and now... sort of... the cloak material. That's highly irresponsible and not functional as a business model. To be fair, she first appeared as this pencil thief who wouldn't pay her brother back or deal with the consequences of her theft, so perhaps that first impression stuck with me a little too strongly. I hope she learns quickly to stop stealing, though.

Re: Louis's Love
I can see why your new way of drawing cars is so time-consuming; they came out great! If I knew my (modern) cars better I'm sure I could identify all of these easily. As it is I'm pretty confident that white car on the right of panel three is an older Toyota Corolla. :-) Now you just need a compromise that still lets them look good but isn't so time-consuming to draw. Nice job, Ellen-Natalie!
As for Alice and Diana... On the surface I like them both and they are both good characters for the story; but, deeper down I'd be leery of getting to close to either of them. They've each become obsessive and neither seems to really care about the harm done by her chosen tactics in pursuit of that obsession. End justifies the means? I think not!! Certainly not in these cases.

Wow, Diana is sinking further and further into debt. She still has to replace Brian's pencils and her mother's yarn. She's banking too much on those cloaks. There is a reason for the phrase "Don't count your chickens before they hatch". She would be better off getting an after-school job and using the money for the fabric she needs.

Yes, it is! Diana's car has always supposed to be an old Toyota Corolla, (just like my first car,) but this is the first page where it FINALLY looks like one!
Hopefully with practice I'll get faster with using photo references, but it is also time to start adjusting my schedule to make time for that.

Re: Louis's Love
And if all goes well, she'll be so focused on her jobs that she'll forget she ever had a boyfriend prospect.
Re: Louis's Love
Confirmation bias here, but I interpret Louis' blush to mean he finds Diana's ambition attractive. When you're world is classes and school programs, Diana must seem incredibly grown up and involved in the 'real world.'
To reiterate my earlier post, I actually do think Diana could 'crash and burn' or face a major setback from her own mistakes, that's almost a given. I just think that, long term, they are the 'better mistakes' to make than, say, manipulating people to try and get a boyfriend.

Re: Louis's Love
Alice loves Louis, Louis loves Diana, Diana loves her buisness.
Classic love triangle. Who does her buisness love?
