Re: What Happened to the Yarn
What is this plan? Is Diana trying to launch her own little fashion business, maybe? Or does she have something else in mind? I look forward to seeing how this all plays out.
Also, there's been a lot of use of italicization lately. Henry used it a lot in his letter, but I thought maybe he just liked to put a lot of emphasis on his words. I'm seeing it again here. In some places, it makes sense to me to have it. In others, not so much. Maybe that's just me, though. ...Actually, now that I'm looking back, the whole last couple of arcs use italics quite a bit, but I think lately it's been especially prominent. Eh... it's just a little nitpicky thing I noticed.

Thanks for your feedback on this-I was curious what people thought about it! Just like when I experimented with using all caps and new fonts earlier, I'm currently experimenting with varying effects on dialogue. I've seen many comics use italics and bold in their text to create the same vocal inflections you'd hear if it was said out loud. Some examples of where I've found this is in Archie comics, Avatar comics, the Amelia Rules! series and The New York Four.
Quick edit to avoid double-posting, Sneak Peak for the next page:

Believe it or not... There are still some of us who will open a door for a lady! :-) (It's kinda fun to pretend to do it with automatic-opening doors. ;-))Slim Shadow wrote:Oooohhhh... Looks like we have ourselves a gentleman. Diana, you are soooooo lucky.
So Louis also -acts- like one of the old timers from an -old- movie. :-) :-) :-)

The furry llama neck and that scarf make him look very posh.

I wonder whether llamas in this world are able to grow beard above their necks or moustache or are they stuck on their neckbeards for the entirety of their lives? Whatever the case may be, they still can sport a rocking 19th century styled neckbeard!

Now, I have to ask to see a Llama in a turn-of-the-20th-century suit, kind of like this.

Feels like someone is fishing for clients!
Now... What type of clients; commissioners or students?

Unlikely. They're jealous because of the attention she's getting.
Anywho, on to the strip itself!
Diana, you really need to pace yourself. Know how many commissions you can realistically complete and in what time frame. Also, don't be surprised when people get sticker shock. If they're paying for your time, keep in mind how much your time is worth to you verses how long it took you to complete the one you are wearing.

That might be part of it. I think it's more complicated than that, though. Like Latrans said, I assume they're jealous of the favorable attention Diana is drawing as well, and the fact that the attention is due to her outfit, which they lost a dissing showdown over, likely puts an extra bitter taste in their mouths. Oh, and there's that thing with Alice having a crush on Louis and Diana (probably unknowingly) kind of getting in the way of that; that'll cause some resentment too.
Anyway, wow, so it was a plan to get a business going! I'm wondering if Diana will have to fork over some of the profits to her mom, though, since she did snatch her mother's good yarn to make that lovely blue number. Also, Latrans, good point; I hope Diana isn't getting in over her head with all these orders. ^^;

Re: What Happened to the Yarn
Of course, if Diana does actually meet these demands in the long run, then everyone will be wearing her fashion of clothing. That specific one as a matter of fact, which will make all the girls have the same outfit, reducing its uniqueness and specialness, and then raising Alice and her group of friends back up into the spotlight since they'll be the only ones without this new fashion.

Maybe, maybe not, Trevor. Diana still gets the prestige of being the one who started the trend and the trio can't claim 'retro' so much as 'last week'.

Is the character in the 2nd panel a frog?
I like her hat.
Also, I predict this story will eventually involves lots of pencils.

True, true. But, I can see the "soul-less fashion clone" remark coming back to haunt Diana. =P

That or she can't keep up with the orders... I have a feeling this can't end well...

Hmm... how about the term "Fashion zombies"? Would that make Diana "Patient Zero"?

I suspect the logistics and the amount she'll have to charge to even break even will be a rude surprise for Diana. :-(
