Yep, she's Maltese! Her name's Mei.
Technically, her Mom's Maltese and her Dad's a Shih Tzu, but her appearances take more after her mother.
You do realize this means we need a bio on the other two girls right.
Also, I love Diana's expression on the 4th panel. You've gotten loads better at this.

BTW, Alice's mother is an Afghan Hound, and her father a Golden Retriever.
Re: What Happened to the Yarn
So while she may have shown these three that she is smart, capable, unique and classy (I don't think she's inspired awe in them...), it did not rely on her choice of fashion and very specifically required her to say things.
I wonder if she realizes she's undermining her opening monologue...

So does that make Alice a Golden Hound or an Afghan Retriever?

Re: What Happened to the Yarn
Afghan Hounds are noble creatures, bred in the country inhabited by one of the best guerrilla fighters in the world, Afghanistan. Golden Retrievers are nice too, but also a lil' boring: a perfect choice for family centered people and families with children, so I guess many Mormons have Golden Retrievers as pets (because Mormons are all about family). Just like Jell-O is a perfect snack for Utahn Mormon families (or at least that's what Bill Cosby claimed).

While there's certainly a lot of dog owners in Utah, I never noticed a single breed that was more popular than another-unless 'Mixed' counts as a breed. Even in our own neighborhood, almost every other house had a dog or cat-but they were all different breeds.

I will say that going out West was the first time that I'd ever had Jell-O Salad, however; I actually dislike Jell-O. I much prefer chocolate or chips for snacking on.

Jello with chocolate chips just doesn't sound appealing...

I've tried Jell-O once and it was pretty "meh". It didn't really taste like anything. I guess Jell-O salad doesn't taste that peculiar either, considering that Jell-O doesn't really have any taste, just some artificial colouring.

That only means you don't like Jello plain! There's all kinds desserts and salads you can make.
My grandma used to put peas and carrots in Jello as a side dish for dinner. (Thankfully my father decided he'd never do that to his kids.)
My mom used mix fruit up in it with it, as a side to get us kids to eat helpings of fruit.
My cousin will bake a white sheetcake, pokes in it, and pour the jello mix into the holes while it still hot, then let it set in the fridge. This creates moist, extra-sweet cake.
Every family reunion someone made the 'Pink Stuff' - Jello powder mixed in with cottage cheese, marshmallows and chunks of fruit.
For a school dance we poured the Jello into goblets tilted on their side in the fridge-causing it to set on a diagonal slant. Then we filled the other diagonal half with pudding. Put whipped cream on top, and it's a cheap yet fancy dessert!
...Shoot, I think I'm a stereotype.

Re: What Happened to the Yarn
As awesome as it would have been to have Alice be the rabbit from Gulp-N-Go, this arc does bring back another character seen in the past.
Re: What Happened to the Yarn
By the way, I noticed that the familiar naming pattern is once again visible in the names of these new characters:
Alice, an Afghan Hound
Mei, a Maltese

He's shown up with Diana before! (dun dun dun?)
Given the antagonistic relationship between the trio and Diana, I don't doubt that they know he's at least her friend. Further, the trio's positive reaction to seeing him suggest that he's no more than a friend as it suggests he is single and therefor available to them. Depending on his and Diana's relationship, this could turn out any number of ways.
Perhaps she is romantically inclined towards him, yet he's oblivious. This would make him a potential target for her fashion designs as she attempts to woo him with her fashion skills. Cue Diana's frustration as he fails to realize that she's doing it for his benefit and not simply using him as a sounding board for her ideas.
The opposite could also be true (he's "just a friend" to her). I find this one less likely, but still possible. Lou could be taking an interest in Diana's fashion designs because he recognizes it as something she finds important and is using it as an excuse to spend time with her. Cue Lou's frustration as she fails to react to any of his advances.
It's also possible that they have no romantic intentions with each other and are merely friends (God forbid that should ever happen between a guy and girl ).
Regardless of the specifics of Lou's and Diana's relationship, he is likely to know of the antagonistic nature of Diana's rapport with the trio and thus likely to side with/defend her against them. Cue trio's frustration as they (likely Alice in particular) fail to successfully woo him.
So... is anyone else's "impending drama" sense tingling?

Trevor_Fox pointed out to me a few more:
Dawn and Diana are both Does,
Brian is a Buck,
Catherine is a Cat,
Ronnie is a Rabbit.
The question we had was about hunter. We have thought for the longest time that hunter looked like a Shiba Inu. However H != S. Is he the exception, is all of the above coincidence, or is he another breed?

Hunter is a Husky.
And Ellen is an Expert at forgetting to study an animal before drawing it. >.<
