I don't think she's hesitant or nervous so much as she is more quiet and withdrawn. From what I've seen of her, she's really not a "people person" and is there because it's expected of her and not because she particularly wishes to socialize. I can be the same way when required to meet people I don't specifically care about.
And because that sounds a lot more harsh than I mean, here's an example. At my last comic convention I met a few webcomic authors. I really didn't much care, but my ladyfriend wanted to so I was required to be present by proxy. On the other hand, I was once able to meet one of my favorite authors and was thrilled at the opportunity (also mortified because I ran late and probably royally screwed up any prospective plans they may have had for that evening
).

Sort of how Cat was. I have a feeling Cat and Helen would get along great.

Either they'd both be quiet and unobtrusive enough to not get in each other's way, or
they'd worry so much about not annoying each other that they'd constantly be all worried
and stressed-out about it. (I would expect this more in Cat than Helen.) Helen strikes me
as mostly quiet and reserved, while Cat seems more nervous and insecure.
