Uh oh... Trouble in the 'best friend approval' department? I've known a number of girls (and occasionally guys) to end relationships over stuff like that. Of course they were all a lot more shallow than Dawn, too. 
Anyways, we can gather from the dialog that Ronnie and Cat have met Brian (likely some time he was picking Dawn up for one of their disasters... er, dates) and now I'm curious to know just how that event went. Judging from "He's strange" I'm going to guess that it was another adventure in unfortunate events. On the other hand, if there's anything I've learned about people, it's that "strange" has absolutely nothing to do with "likable". It's more a matter of if you can accept others on their own terms or not. I've known a few people who are rather atypical and yet still some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
