Movie Game

Not even close, but I'm going to give it to you because I like the film you guessed xP

The movie I was going for is actually live action and takes place on the water. The film is The River Wild

In this 1987 film, an elderly couple who own an apartment building and cafe in New York are under threat by an unscrupulous property developer who's hired some muscle to 'encourage' the couple and their tenants to vacate. Fortunately for the residents, they befriend a pair of strays who take up a sort of guardianship over the building, repairing damage and eventually saving the building all together.

I tried using the elements from hamlet that it was adopted by without using obvious factors

I thought maybe Hamlet as well, except for the "journey of healing" line. ^^
