Movie Game
I'll describe the plot, and you guys try and guess it.
Ex.
Q:handful of teenagers get shrunk to a dimunitive size and brave the dangers of their back yard.
A: Honey, I shrunk the kids.
I'll start it off with a tough one.
This film is the first of a two part series regarding a young Immigrant comes to the United States in the late 1900's to escape the woes of his Russian Homeland and find his family after being washed overboard during a storm. Miraculously making it ashore, he must relocate his family while trying to survive in a new country.

Re: Movie Game
Yep~An American Tail, Fievel Goes West, and The Treasure of Manhattan Island. Only saw the preview of that third one, though.
Okay, my turn then. Hint-this is a quote from a letter to the editor in Desert News, over ten years ago.
"Girl feels restricted by parent's expectations. Girl rejects parents, and attempts suicide. Boy appears and saves girl. Boy is parent's worst nightmare-he smokes, drinks, uses coarse language, has no money or prospects, and is knowledgeable in the ways of sex.
"Girl immediately falls in love with this "heaven-sent" boy. Boy initiates girl into the rituals in which he claims produce eternal bliss: she smokes, makes obscene gestures, and breaks the law of chastity with the boy in the back of a car. Of course, this final act marks her passage into the mysteries of adulthood, then the boy leaves her by dying. Because she followed his rituals faithfully, she's rewarded with everything a woman of the 90's could want to be blessed with-the great accomplishments of fame, glory, and money."

Sounds like a modern spin of Romeo and Juliette... A bit stumped on what that is though.Ellen-Natalie wrote:Yep~An American Tail, Fievel Goes West, and The Treasure of Manhattan Island. Only saw the preview of that third one, though.

Movie Game *nudge*
Pardon me, Krysta, for jiggling the order here, but it has been a while...
This animated feature was the last one produced by legendary cartoon-makers William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, and debuted in theaters on 18 June 1993.
Plot: While their tiny friend lies abed dying, three young 'uns embark on a dangerous mission to retrieve medicinal herbs. Perils and obstacles abound, but hope gives them wings.

Once Upon a Forest!
(ok, I cheated and used Google...)
This B&W film followed a crew of US Army truck drivers as they struggled to supply the front lines (and, notably, the tanks under General Patton) with food, fuel, and ammunition. During the course of their numerous trips across Europe, they face obstacles ranging from enemy troops, to mine fields, to physical exhaustion.

Re: Movie Game
Ok, so it's been over a week an no one's even hazarded a wild guess. The movie I referred to was 'The Red Ball Express'. It's a very under appreciated film and I strongly suggest you give it a watch.
So... moving on, here's a different movie:
This film, released in 1994, was a movie adaptation of one of the worlds first anti-heroes. The protagonist uses his control over hypnosis to help him fight crime in New York.

Re: Movie Game
This sounds like the first X Men movie. The anti-hero would be Magneto, who apparently was part of the Nazi segregation of "undesirables," and was torn from his family as a boy. The protagonist would be Professor Charles Xavier, the telepath (which is not hypnotism).

Re: Movie Game
Nice guess, but no. The anti-hero and the protagonist are the same character. He predates the X-Men by over 33 years.
Also, his power is explicitly stated to be hypnosis in the show.

Ok, another movie hint then.
This 1978 Disney film followed the adventures of 'Jake', an alien who was forced to make an emergency landing on Earth and must affect repairs to his ship with the help of some human friends.

Re: Movie Game
I'm afraid not. Sorry. Escape to Witch Mountain came out in 1975. You've got the 'live action' bit correct though.
