Re: Inspections Arc
Ohhh. Oh dear. Well, my curiosity is satisfied on that issue... except now I'm curious about how this will all play out for the FE girls. I wonder why Cat thought it was a compost heap? Was it the condition when they first moved in? The fact that it was a "balcony"/patio/whatever on the ground floor? Well, Cat's use for it is probably better for security purposes anyway (what burglar would want to wade through compost?), although I doubt Ms. Pudelhund will see it that way.

Re: Inspections Arc
Did anyone else get a tingle of dread down their back when Cat said "That's just the compost heap."?
=O.O= "Anyone?"
Oh, and I do know of ground floor apartments with balconies, but the only one I've seen was overlooking a huge, forested gully that had deer walking past on a daily basis. It was actually a really nice balcony, although I don't know why Mrs. Pudelhund would know the balcony was behind a curtain, while the other tenants wouldn't... unless Cat...

Re: Inspections Arc
So it WAS the balcony's initial condition! ...Sort of. The smell, at least. Combined with a comment by Cat's helicopter mother. I'm still wondering how this is gonna go down with Ms. Pudelhund...

It's the litter box!
@Cutekitty: "I'm still wondering how this is gonna go down with Ms. Pudelhund..."
Not. Well.

Re: Inspections Arc
So... assuming it's a pile of un-raked leaves from years past, how many worms do you think they'll find in it? Slugs?

Re: Inspections Arc
Ayup, Mr. Ed, looks like you were right: not well. Those expressions in the last panel speak volumes. I was just wondering how severe her response would be--is she going to evict them? Fine them? Or just demand that they have it cleaned by tomorrow? Or have some sort of combination of those reactions? Or react in some way else?

Re: Inspections Arc
I don't think Ms Pudelhund will evict them because it's clear that was there before they moved in and the fact that Ms Pudelhund failed to catch it during the time the previous tenant lived there and after she moved out shows she's not exactly a careful landlord. Part of a landlord's job is to inspect an apartment BEFORE a new tenant moves in and she clearly failed to do that.

Re: Inspections Arc
Cutekitty - You're right about the facial expressions. I love the looks of horror on Ronnie and Dawn. Pudelhund, on the other hand, looks furious. I am afraid she's at least going to threaten Dire Consequences! Poor Cat looks so...pitiful.
Kanna - It's clear to -us- that it's a pre-existing condition, but we got to see the flashback. Pudelhund may or may not be nice or fair about it. The girls may not be able to prove it's pre-existing, and Pudelhund -may- not want to believe them anyway if it will make -her- look bad.
I'm nervous for Ronnie/Dawn/Cat!
Re: Inspections Arc
Maybe the "balcony" is the dumpster" pad, with very full dumpster, of course. From the facial reactions, it must be something really gross. . Unless it's something like a homeless person living in a cardboard box, with I find very unlikely for a number of socio-political reasons. , my vote is for a very old trash pile, probably from the previous occupants of the apt.. this could become fun....urban archeology, anyone???????? Re: Inspections Arc
Yup. That's something I'd take to Mrs. P's superiors. While they may still have to pay the fine, it could be important to get a complaint on record.

Re: Inspections Arc
Whoa. Harsh. That's a good idea, Latrans, but does Ms. Pudelhund HAVE any superiors to report to? Also, Mt. Ronnie looks about ready to explode... Well, she already did a bit at Cat, but it looks like she's going to explode more.

Re: Inspections Arc
Now, wait a second. This is a preexisting condition that the Manager knew about when they sold the apartment. Fining the tenants for failure to fix the condition that is clearly the management's fault for not fixing is just a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Although honestly... Balcony, Box Garden... there's not much difference, is there?

Hey, it's Cat's fault, let HER pay the fine!

Yup, Ms Pudelhund must be a very lazy landlord if she doesn't even check the apartments to make sure the last tenant left them clean before she moved new tenants in. That is clearly more than a year of pileup and if I'm correct on the timeline of this comic, they haven't been in that apartment more than a year at most.

=O.O= <( "That's no compost heap, it's a balcony in need of some serious cleaning!" )
Wow! I come back from losing my internet for a couple of weeks to discover that the girls do indeed have a balcony, haven't known about it for months (probably more than a year) and now are going to be fined because nobody bothered to inform them of the problem beforehand.
=>.<= Ouch!

Well, I guess they're gonna need shovels and a good amount of Sarge's brand Elbow Grease to get through this one.

I predict a very large Ronnie explosion coming. Her expression in the last panel is ...Ominous. BTW, love Ronnie as Raven, can't wait to see who's next. THE COLONEL
P.S. Cleanup is going to require something like a Bobcat and a Fire hose. WCJ

Re: Inspections Arc
"That's the saddest message the white board's ever had."
It's true.
Sounds like it's Dawn's turn to step in and send everybody on their way. I suspect a "Fine us if you must, but if so, we will be taking it to management." to Mrs. P and a "You. Cat. Talking now." to Ronnie.
