Seeing the mouse with the hat made me realize something. 'Mr. "Blade"' of page 30 needs to be wearing it at some point just to give Dawn even *more* 'WTF?!'.

Of course then I can see him and the mouse getting into a HUGE contest over it.

Where I work, bringing a deadly weapon of any kind into the building is grounds for immediate termination. Although the person fired can make a formal appeal through the Union, the Union regards such cases as employee-versus-employee violence, and will do little to nothing to reverse the dismissal.

This particular story arc seems to be focusing on workplace violence, and the warning signs that precede it. A bow of respect to Ellen-Natalie for taking on this hot-potato topic.

This business also bans weapons (or so they say...), but the mouse got special permission (see here).

I remember that, Gungnir. Perhaps this porcine boss is merely a "floor boss," and not part of the corporate directorate that sets policy. Though infrequent, there are those supervisors that adopt a laissez-faire approach. I'm thinking this boss concerns himself only with making call quotas and meeting sales forecasts. All other issues are minor, and are usually left to resolve themselves. Therefore, when the executives made the "No Weapons" policy, the floor boss dismissed the knife as not worth the trouble of making an issue of it. Knowing that phone-drone work is plenty tedious, and manning phones takes high priority (remember the recruitment drive that pretty much hired anyone that could walk and talk, including Mister Blade), this boss may be using the strategy of a freewheeling workplace environment to counter naturally high absenteeism.
