I suppose it's worth pointing out that Cat would seem atypical in this regard, though that's something Hunter might not realize unless someone pointed it out to him.

Mother's logic bomb hits the target, shattering Hunter's delusions.
Perhaps Cat's aversion is not so atypical. Already that cute spaniel from class has made a move on Hunter. How many others have angled in on him?
Hunter's profession almost invites seduction. That might make him a fun date, but definitely not marriage material. Too many ... distractions.
Hunter: seriously, forget the girls and concentrate on upgrading yourself. When your money pile gets big enough, girls will come to you.
