"Occur," not "ocur" in the second bubble of Dawn's tirade.
That aside, I kind of hope Brian chews Dawn out for that assumption about the motives behind his volunteer work--because, honestly, that's a rather nasty assumption, a foolish one made in the heat of anger... and judging from his response on this page, it looks like that counter tirade is what's coming. I can't help it; I feel bad for Brian. =( I mean, I suppose I feel a little badly for Dawn too; this is just... a tense situation all around, and one that I think might end poorly (at least temporarily). Then again, Brian standing up to Dawn might get her to see him in a new light; maybe she'll know him a little better and have a bit more respect for him after this.

Oy! Thanks ^^ Fixed now.

He was going to ask for a pencil on the 3rd panel, wasn't he?
I truly hope they don't get together. Despite Dawn's wrong assumptions, Brian is still guilty of not returning her pencils, bad luck or not.
And I have the feeling that somewhere along his defense, he's going to ask her for a pencil. That should be the final straw for Dawn.

That's pretty sad when you don't want people to get together over a little matter like PENCILS. In fact, she should be flattered that he likes her and is just too shy to admit it. If you are going to let the matter of borrowing pencils upset you like this then it would be best of she never got married period. If she reacts like this over such a trivial matter, she'd likely go berserk if her husband so much as accidently knocked over a glass.

I hope that the best happens to Brian and Dawn. I'm neither a pessimist nor an optimist, but an Awkwardist: I thinks things will calm down, but not completely be resolved. Both will get good feelings about each other, but Dawn will find another boyfriend and Brian a girlfriend (of sorts), but the two will still like each other. The story luckily, will be the Ellen's choice, so It's not set in stone. Thanks Ellen!

Oh, I wouldn't want them to get upset over a LITTLE matter about pencils, but this whole thing has gone to much deeper levels.
Brian has, in effect, STOLEN her property over and over and over. If he had borrowed 10 pencils, at most, I'd chalk it up to bad luck, but either he's too cheap or lazy to get his own pencils (and he's incapable of NOT asking for them, as we saw earlier), or he's assuming Dawn is made out of money so he can leech off her because he very much depends on her buying HIS pencils.
Ah, yes, and then there's the fact that he doesn't exactly take good care of other people's property. Why hasn't he bothered to RETURN even just ONE pencil throughout the semester, and waited until he had one big satchel full of them?? What has happened to them? Does he throw them away? Does he eat them? Does he have a private stash that he uses as a shrine (like Helga Pataki of Hey Arnold )? Does he seem considerate to anyone here?
Why
Doesn't
He
Give
The
Pencil
Back
At
The
End
Of
Class?
Again, bad luck or not (or even because his sister stole HIS pencils), Dawn has no reason to confide him with anything at this point in time.
And I just wish she'd just STOP giving him pencils, geez! Enabler, much?

Umm... The J.A.M. ... We haven't gotten to the joke about the satchel of pencils yet. That was in the preview of a chapter. While you *can* draw this conclusion, at this point in the story, we don't know that yet.
Besides, don't you think there is a *Reason* she keeps giving him pencils? Even good Mormon people stop after a while. She just can't admit to herself that she at least likes him. Maybe not love, but at least friendship level like. Her explosion her isn't even about the pencils. It's not even about his lack of maturity. It's not. It's about her *mother*. That, in the end, is what this little spat is about.

Well, I don't know about Mormons, but Dawn has stated that this whole situation has escalated into intolerable annoyance.
Re: FE Page 177
Aw, come on. She was just bugged by her mother to go out with this boy. She's just recovering from Mother Guilting, and then she receives the shock that it's the boy from the class. I don't blame her for going "Stalker" at this point, but honestly, her anger has little to do with the Pencils. The Pencil Situation that is going to come up is less about Dawn's Anger, and more in the category of "Proving One's Love".
Overall, I doubt that Dawn really cares about the pencils. She just wants the boy to stop bugging her.
(Eep! The storyline moved along further than I thought. The pencils *Have* been used to make a dress. My apologies)

Re: FE Page 177
Why hasn't he returned them? Because any day he starts by returning the pencils he has is a day he couldn't ask for one.
And when you're too shy to do anything else, that really does kind of sidetrack.
