Comic Detour: Rival Schools Comic_10

FYU is based off one of my university's rival schools, which isn't named to avoid lawsuits. ^^;
Far as I know, that story's just an urban legend of sorts-jokes like that are often told to console those of us who got rejection letters.

When I was going to a university they had some sort of rival school but it was all sports related. Seeing as I could barely care less about sports, I never put in the effort to remember who this school was. Laughing

Just out of curiosity...

I notice that when Cat shrugs, she often shrugs with hands inward. That is a very odd thing to me. Did she learn to shrug doing the Chicken Dance? That could be awesome...

Is this a cultural quirk that I'm not aware of, or is it just Cat?

Not a cultural quirk, just an artistic one. ^^;

Comic Detour: Rival Schools Empty The empty-hands shrug

Post  oneuglybunny Wed Dec 28, 2011 9:17 pm

Perhaps, Sarah_TV, Cat's open palms up gesture while shrugging her shoulders comes from old Italian and some Ashkenazi Jewish gestures signifying "I've got nothing." The common shrug of shoulders conveys the concept "I don't know." Enhanced by the empty palms showcasing an empty space in front of the person conveys the concept "I have no idea. Not a clue. Nothing even to make a guess from." Although, in this particular context, it may be a closer indicator of "No other options. Nothing else available." The gesture effectively displays an empty set.

I'm sure FYU-I wouldn't mind accepting someone.
