Dog girl = Courtney, right? I would've never thought that she'd want to do another group project with Cat after what happened with that project on the immigration debate in that one arc...

Well, Courtney is a member of the LDS Church, and the Church teaches to forgive another man for their trespasses, (ie: her forgiving Cat for shafting her on the assignment.) And plus, she demonstrates a lot of air-headedness that leads her to repeating the mistake.
So to make it short, it's a combination of Molly-Mormon air-headedness.
