I guess I can't blame Ronnie too much since the last time she tried to go to church it was a disaster.

Ronnie can help with the speech writing to make sure the Bishop will love it! :-) Looks like this arc just might turn out to be almost as much about Ronnie as it is about Cat anyway. Might as well jump in and help!
Very nice job on Ronnie's outfit today! I really like the look of that purple center piece, especially with that green.
Pretty fox at right in panel two! :-)

"I'm not Attending a Mormon church meeting."
That would be the perfect place for a Gilligan Cut.

I somehow got the mental image of Cat giving a Southern Baptist style sermon...

I think Ronnie is still upset about the last time she went to church, although there really was no reason for it. It's not like she was turned away, she was simply in the wrong building.

Possibly... But, I think it has more to do with blaming the church for taking her boyfriend away.kanna172003 wrote:I think Ronnie is still upset about the last time she went to church, although there really was no reason for it. Actually, I would count that as being turned away (although I do think Ronnie blew it out of proportion juuust a tad). It may have been the "wrong" building according to the bishop's rules, but he still basically said, "No, you can't join us here." Also, I think Ronnie may have wanted to avoid the student ward so that she could keep her choice and experience to herself, without having to deal with attention from anyone she knew--in which case, she was turned away from more than the bishop had intended.
That aside, I'd take your hypothesis to the bank, with a corollary including all the other baggage from what happened to her in high school.
Oh man. Vikki should not have pushed it like that. Pressing for a "yes" after receiving a firm "no" is the most irritating, infuriating, and counterproductive possible response. For once, I sympathize with Ronnie's loss of temper. =/
I look forward to finding out where Cat went! I'm not so sure she left to hide.

She had been willing to go one time even still. She went because she remembered her boyfriend telling her everyone was welcome at church and then she was told she was in the wrong building and she upset about it.

Vikki needs to be careful though, lest she gets hit in the face with a Book of Mormon.

Wouldn't the closing prayer have already been decided prior to the meeting?

Testing out a new coloring style with today's page~
I like it! Are you using traditional marker-pens for the line art (or else imitating them digitally)? It doesn't look as "clean" as the previous page. Same with the shadows, they look softer at the edges, and the eyes look more textured to me, although maybe that's just due to the shading and line art. Again, I like the feel of it, especially for a moment such as this.
...That balcony is where the compost heap used to be, isn't it?

Usually, yes. But the congregation doesn't know that.

Yep! I got some new paper and pens I wanted to try out, so this page was inked by hand and scanned in to be colored digitally with Photoshop brushes - as opposed to inking and coloring with vector shapes in Illustrator.
Re: Talks - Cat
I smell character development!
Also, nice job on the back-lighting. The multiple shading levels work pretty well to keep things light enough to see but still imply the direction of lighting.

Aww.. Ronnie is still Cat's "big sister". They're both really good together in this one. I really like the lighting too.
