Yes - though lions choose to cut or style their manes according to their personal tastes.

Copying from the FE Volume 1 thread to keep it on track.

Given modern decency standards, I would suspect that they would at least wear something...

Does she go swimming in a bikini?
It's a dance leotard with a skirt ~ When Vikki goes to the pool to swim, she wears the swimsuit that will help get her the best results when participating in that activity. She follows this same practice when going to the pool to flirt with boys.

This raises some interesting design questions given that she (and the rest of the FE population) are covered in fur. While some (otters, polar bears, etc.) would probably have a natural affinity for leaving fur exposed, many others might find having a mass of flowing fur to be quite the drag while trying to move through the water. I suspect that this means "functional" swimwear would be more like the full-body kit worn by Real Life competitive swimmers though trying to get fur to lie right under that kind of thing might take some practice.
Of course I also suspect that "fashionable" swimwear would be rather more revealing.
The J.A.M. wrote:Would otters prefer to swim au naturale, even in mixed company?
Or is swimming generally considered to be a clothing optional activity, regardless of upbringing, as it was in Victorian England? (swimsuits as we know them were invented shortly after that, before then, swimming was practically always done au naturale).

Latrans, You're awesome - thanks!
As far as J.A.M.'s question goes, there's a couple private nudist beaches in the country, but the public decency laws in the US requires wearing swimsuits of some kind.

Re: Random FE Universe Questions!
Would otters and other aquatic species have opposed those laws, though?
Re: Random FE Universe Questions!
JAM, I suspect no more than any other species.
Anyways, new question inspired by Vikki's poster! Given that eating meat is tantamount to cannibalism, would terms like "beef" or "pork" exist in FE? And by extension, terms like "beefcake"?

Along those lines, since it's been established that there are no aquatic civilizations, and I know I saw an aquarium at one point, do they have any qualms about eating fish or other seafood?

Latrans is correct, there is no data supporting a correlation between public decency laws and species. However, surveys do show most attendees of the private beaches are senior citizens.

Those terms do exist - not in reference to food, but to muscles and body-building. Silver Steer's Supplements popularized this with a classic ad campaign in the 1980s, featuring scrawny males trying to move furniture for an elderly lady. After they failed, the lady responded with their slogan, "Where's the Beef?"

Some claim that eating seafood is good for you, but consumers of the average Western Mammal diet today will avoid seafood if they can. This is due to the first protein manufacturing companies spreading anti-seafood propaganda in the early 1900s to gain appeal for their own product.

With the lovely Felicity the Frog comic, can I ask about how certain reptile babies work?

There's that one who always tells stories about his childhood...or the one that licks his lips constantly while talking...oh, and the one who wears those interesting ties!
Mr. Cardinal wrote:With the lovely Felicity the Frog comic, can I ask about how certain reptile babies work?
Certain companies hire those reptile babies work in sweatshops to cut their labor costs. Certain governments consider this practice unethical and illegal, and certain protest groups work to spread awareness of these practices, and shut down these unsafe environments.

There seems to be quite a mystery surrounding Ronnie's dad. He wouldn't happen to be in a relationship with another woman (or man for that matter)? It seemed important to him to tell Ronnie. Also, is Dawn's mother still alive in the comic?

The personal life of Ronnie's Dad is a long overdue story arc. I've had to rework it a few times - irst I realized I was copying a something I'd seen before, revisions after that weren't working right, I ended up scrapping what I had to start mapping the arc out again from scratch. But it will come up again in the future!
And yes, Dawn's mother is still alive. (She's actually going to be appearing in the short story comic that's being posted this month on Patreon!)

Does this world have its own version of Garfield and Peanuts? Such as Jon is a human-sized cat while Garfield is his fat, lazy human pet, and Charlie Brown is a bald, depressed puppy with a pet human-Snoopy?

Of course! There's also a popular comic strip about a imaginative tiger boy having adventures with his stuffed doll - but its' creator wouldn't allow those characters to get merchandised like Garfield and Peanuts did.

Only if the driver has their brights on.

What would be this world's equivalent to chicken-fried steak?

There's still chicken-fried stake. Early Austrian chicken immigrants would tenderize wooden stakes by pounding them, then immerse the stakes in a batter, season to taste and fry them in a pan. Some believe calling this dish 'Chicken-Fried Stake' is politically incorrect, but it's the most universally recognized term for the dish.

I imagine beavers and woodchucks would enjoy those.

Oh, definitely! Though there's still debate on how much wood would a woodchuck fry if a woodchuck would fry wood.

The J.A.M. wrote:Does the game "Whack-a-mole" exist in this universe?
Yes. Though in an effort to be less offensive, newer models are called 'Whack a Hole', where you hammer down vague shadow-like figures with burning eyes as they slink in and out of the holes. This model has had mixed results when tested among young children.

Obviously, Angry Birds was very quickly banned for being not just a little racist.
Why this conclusion? Because this thought makes the crotchety old man in me smile and sigh contentedly. This could be because in Real Life(tm) I never understood the fanaticism with which people took to that game. Sure, it's kind of a fun time waster, but not that fun and the market saturation just didn't help...
