Some /adv/ plz?

I'm one of those people that get along with everyone, beleive me, I could clain to be a jew and adolf hitler would be calling me every friday night to go party level of friendly... however I've had a serious issue thast been bugging me since I got this job, my boss is an anti intellectual(I think its stems from the USMC background, no offense marines, you know how intellectuals are treated in the corps.) ...its the main thing she's at my throat on all the time and its the ultra simple stuff that sets her off....

I find myself often in this situation with strangers as they seem to not grasp what II have learned of as proeper negatives...
I guess texas is the nexus of stupid in this country.

Now, now-if everyone hated an entire state because of the actions of a few people...oh wait, everyone does that. To every state.

It sounds like you might just have to be extra careful for awhile. The military's known for enforcing a keen attention to detail, and getting very upset when said details are ignored. Being "at your throat" over "simple stuff" might be the only way she learned how a boss is supposed to bring out the best in her employees. It's never easy to get along with someone who operates differently than you do, but if you can show you're willing to make an effort to run things her way, she might not come down so hard all the time.

That being said, if her being "at your throat" beings to feel abusive, you're well within your right to address this issue in a calm, professional manner-to her and her superiors.

I had a issue like this with my last boss. She was borderline bipolar with a severe alpha-female complex. It was bad enough that if she was having a bad day (read: actually had to put some effort into her work because the store was busy) she'd find a reason to berate you. Not just get on you about little stuff, she'd go looking for something to rub your nose in.

Oh, and she was never wrong. And if she was wrong and you had the gall to prove it, that would just make her all the angrier.

I'm quite honestly not welcome in that sub shop any more for the simple reason that I told her I didn't like her. Calm, collected, no raised voices from me and I got shouted out of the store. I believe my exact words were "I'm sorry I had to quit, but I'm afraid I just don't get along with you. Just a personality conflict." Seems that suggesting she *wasn't* Goddess Almighty and prostrating yourself at her feet is a capitol offense to her.

I worked there for almost six months under those conditions for one reason and one reason only. Her husband (she treated even HIM this way) who actually made sure everything got done worked his ASS off and I didn't want to leave him hanging.

But I guess that's just one of life's great annoyances. There really *are* some people in this world you just won't ever get along with.
