You know, Vicki seems skeptical and I may be wrong...but my initial reaction was that Helen might actually be semi okay. Not that Lots of Blood is her cup of tea, but that after the initial emotional shock she might actually come out of it saying, 'well I'm not a fan but it didn't kill me' and be able to look back on it as a growing experience. Almost like Kat realizing she can say the F-word and not burst into flames a long time ago.

Or I may be wrong and she's still in denial.

Great job with Helen's fake smile in panel two!  It's really readable and believable.

Poor Helen. I think she had hopes that the film would focus on the forbidden romance angle between feuding families, as in Romeo And Juliet. But Hollywood, in their cocaine wisdom, chose to focus on the feuding aspect, a la Mortal Kombat. In the book, when the characters decide to get all fighty-wighty, Helen can simply flip pages until the One True Couple get back to the secret rendezvous wooing + cuddling + kissing. In a movie, there's no fast-forward, so Helen is stuck watching evisceration in the name of drama.

Expressions in the last few panels.. Great!

And, I think Helen's about to find Vikki's an even better friend than she thinks. I suspect Vikki honestly didn't realize this would bother Helen so much and would never have gotten her to come to the movie if she had.

I can see the next story arc now: "Helen Does Things". In which things are done by Helen.

...Okay, so that sounded funnier in my head.

Um, no.  I've been in movie theaters and cineplexes.  One room with a sink and a commode cannot hope to cut it.  Maybe for guys, who are "loners," and just drain the ol' crankcase and go.  But women do the platoon thing, in clusters, and it's a big production of wiping, washing and face-checking.  Anywhere less than five stalls, and there will be a bitchy backlog.  And no partitions?  That cannot possibly work, except in prisons.  Horrible engineering ... unless this is synecdoche: skipping significant details for dramatic effect.  Okay, I'll call it Artistic License - Public Accommodation, and call it an evening. For a movie theater, definitely not - but it is the bookstore hosting the premier this time.
However, looking over the arc I have noticed details that will need to be adjusted later. For example, I just realized this bathroom has no lock whatsoever.  Shocked  No wonder Ronnie was able to just walk in!

oneuglybunny: actually, based on my experiences, cluster peeing is not a frequent phenomenon, regardless of gender. We pee when we gotta pee, no more and no less.

Ms. Natalie, if it makes you feel a little better, some of my university's buildings (er, I know of one, anyway) have single-person bathrooms with locks that don't work. The mechanism is still there, though, just dysfunctional... Razz

I'm curious now--how long has Helen known Henry? I'm hypothesizing at least since high school, probably since childhood.

Public restrooms don't have locks on the doors, because hoboes tend to reside in those that do.  It's just the partitions that get the sliding lock, if that.  Which is better than New York, at any rate, where some public facilities have water jets that hose down the compartment at preset intervals.  When the lights start flashing, an occupant has fifteen seconds to get done and bug out before a simulated typhoon strikes.

Yay, all's good again. Very Happy

Tiny detail, though: should Ronnie really have such length to her profile? That works for Vikki the vixen and definitely for Helen the mare, but not for Ronnie the rabbit. Hers would be much closer to Cat's abbreviated nose / mouth structure. Of course, this is just a pencil test stage, easily adjusted.

Good catch!
Giving Ronnie a significant sniffer has happened pretty often, without me even realizing it, in the comic sketches. I have found a couple correlations for when this happens, though:

-- Usually it occurs when I'm sketching the panels very, very fast. (Like when on a break at the temp job.)
-- It also happens when Vikki is standing nearby. I have a tendency to give them the same-sized schnoz when sketching them together. This happens with Cat and Hunter sometimes, too. And Dawn and Brian. But those last two actually do have the similar snouts.

Recognizing when and how this mistake helps me be more careful in future sketches, but sometimes Ronnie still gets those 'normous nostrils. Fortunately, taking the time to scan and ink the pages digitally helps me catch and reduce her snoot to its' normal size.

Sorry about the delay, Cutekitty - I thought I'd answered your question sooner!
Helen and Henry have known each other since starting high school - but they ran in different social circles. They didn't start dating until the end of Junior year.
