It kinda flew over my head too. I've never heard of this "general conference weekend." ...But maybe it's somehow related to Mormonism, though, judging from the "come, all ye faithful" in the paper and Ronnie's dread. Hey, maybe this arc will tell us more about what alienated Ronnie from Mormon culture!

For those of you who don't know... General Conference is a weekend that happens every six months when prophets, apostles, and general authorities speak to church members across the world. That's a general gist of it. I wonder what President Monson looks like in a furry universe...

Thanks for the info, Slim Shadow! ...Why does that cause all the mall-goers to be females, though?

Wouldnt that make it an ideal target for anti-LDS groups? or would they fear the members going down as martyrs....

Yes, it's pretty common to see protesters around temple square during General Conference. But they aren't allowed onto church property, and most members will just ignore them as they pass.

Well, I don't live in the Salt Lake valley area, but I know people protest against the church when it comes Conference time. I don't face much opposition over here, since most of my friends respect my faith, and our church is getting good press in my city. If you are talking about terrorist organizations, there are tight security measures in the case of a terrorist attack.

I'm curious as to what they protest, as the LDS church is rather a new kid on the block [ Oh oh ooooh] when it comes to religions.

Different people have different reasons, a common message between them all is that the LDS faith is nothing more than a brainwashing lie. I've never cared to talk to one in person-they're too concerned with proving me wrong. If you're really curious, though, I'm sure there's plenty of angry websites happy to have visitors.
Re: FE Page 131
The only LDS members I knew personally were very nice and very good friends to me. Not once in all the years I knew them did they try to preach to me or do anything "weird." I'd have them for neighbors again any time!
