Small HTML Victories Empty Small HTML Victories

Post  Ellen-Natalie Tue Aug 12, 2014 2:58 pm

Over the years I've been slowly tweaking the FE website away from its' basic template as I learn more HTML codes. With a potential convention coming next year, (fingers crossed!) I'm going to start trying to update more of the website. And when I finally figure out how to make a code appear and function as desired, I'm posting about it here to celebrate. The most recent victories you may or may not have noticed:

In the 'About' section, the character's name will appear when you hover the mouse over the image. (Without affecting the ability to click said image to go to their first appearance in the comic!)

In the Archives page, you can now search the archives by page number like always OR by story arc with the drop down menu. Also, I finally came up with names for the older story arcs.

Small HTML Victories Empty Darn it, Smackjeeves

Post  Ellen-Natalie Sun Nov 02, 2014 11:51 am

Smackjeeves has been having server issues recently, and FE has been no exception. All the custom image files I'd been uploading are no longer accessible, and have been showing up as broken images. Spent this morning re-uploading all the images onto a third party image hoster, recoding the buttons, then updating the codes in the pages.

However, I deleted the Side Stories page entirely - for a few reasons. The only Side Story that's been listed there has been Brian's Big Date, which I've been looking into making into a .PDF to sell as a digital file for awhile now. The Fan Comic Event comics I've been planning to include in a new section of the website called a 'Wall of Awesome.'

Finally replaced the website's "News" section with my twitter feed! My twitter is consistently updated first in my accounts, while the News section was always updated last and sometimes forgotten completely. Not to mention it pushed one of the PW ads way, way down on the welcome page.

Also updated and moved the Wallpaper donation button, creating a new Patreon button to accompany it! Next project, creating the 'Wall of Awesome' section...

I'm liking the changes. I do have a small suggestion, however. Perhaps move the twitter feed and wallpaper/patreon buttons to the right side of the comic. As they stand now, it pushes the comic off the side of my screen.

Shoot, I was trying to figure out how to get everything to fit on the screen...

It probably doesn't help that I run with a sidebar open so I'm already missing a couple inches from the width. When things do flow past the edge, I'd rather lose half a button than the edge of the comic. Cool

Does it still get cut off when you click on the page to go to its' place in the Archives?

Nope. Archive pages are fine. Since the buttons aren't there, the comic is centered on the page and fully visible. Cool

Small HTML Victories Empty Tweaks while prepping for conventions

Post  Ellen-Natalie Sat May 16, 2015 6:59 pm

Updated the website's top banner so it's not a white brick anymore ^^;
Also I'm slowly adding social media buttons to the front page. I enjoyed designing my own social media buttons on the links page, but with (hopefully) more people visiting the website soon having instantly recognizable symbols available in more visible place will be a lot more helpful to them as they navigate.
