The first bit has been (partially) answered here. They were all going to be going to the same school, but turns out FVU wasn't any of the trio's first choice and when they ended up getting accepted to Furry Young they went for it. If I had to guess at the rest, Vikki was looking for housing and saw an ad for "room mate wanted". After some correspondence (which revealed a common FVU interest), all parties decided they were a good match and leases were signed.

More to this strip specifically, experience has taught me that this is the time that all parties drop what they are doing and sit down to discuss what they are looking for in both room mates and living space. Of course I'm drawing on a few more years experience than our girls... Razz

I'm assuming Vikki was kinda... WILD before she moved in with her roommates. Sorry, don't mean to jump to conclusions.

I think it's less "was wild" and more "was looking forward to being wild". She was wanting to stretch her wings a bit, having left the direct oversight of her parents, and wasn't expecting her new roomies turn out to be disturbingly straight-laced.

Of course, I could be wrong.

Depends on who you ask, I suppose. We already know it ends with Vikki living (mostly) smoothly with her room mates. For the room mates, that's a pretty good win, as they're getting some one to live by their standards without any major issues. Regardless of where you sit on social norms, when two cultures interact, the ones that come out the happiest are the ones who have to change the least.

Which brings us to the other side of the coin. Vikki ends up leading a rather repressed home life that she (at least occasionally) dreads coming home to. Not exactly a win and certainly not mentally or emotionally healthy. I would suspect that when her lease is up she will be finding new lodging (if possible, her evasiveness with Ronnie about why she's living there suggests that it might not have been her choice).

I've received a few questions about pre-ordering the FE book. For those interested, there is a pre-order option over Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=1487556&rf=359673&ty=2

Last Panel = What did I get myself into? / Expectations Dashed... Crying or Very sad

I actually feel sorry for her even though I know how this will turn out.  Neutral

Helen is just a big quiet Blush-fest in these past few pages!

Side Note: I love the way Sarah's Squirrel tail emotes. It just puts a fine point on her personality!

I think it's interesting that Helen -appears- to be blushing more at what Sarah & Mariah said than at what Vikki said. Embarassed

The J.A.M. wrote:So why didn't she move out or try another college?

One explanation is that she really wanted to try to make it work in Utah. This may be because she wanted to be near Ronnie, or else she wanted to experience the culture, or she may have had other reasons for wanting to stay, perhaps ones linked to her motivations for choosing Utah in the first place.

And then there are the difficulties that would come with transferring or finding a new place to live. Honestly, I don't know much about it myself, since I went to my university and my dorm and just stayed there, but it seems like it would take a lot of additional research and paperwork. It would probably be doubly complicated if Vikki is relying on financial aid; that aid might be school-specific or location-specific, and switching might require finding other sources of aid.

Add in that the school year's probably really close to starting, and I don't think Vikki would have time for all the bureaucracy even if she knew how to work it out.

On this page: Gosh, poor Vikki. I kinda wish I could reach in there and offer her a hug.

You have to give Vikki's roommates credit for trying to get around an awkward situation without resorting to rudeness. And we've already seen that Mariah and Sarah are capable of acting petty at times like when they threatened to report each other to whoever enforces the honor code.

Those darn prerequisites. I don't suppose there's any way she can test out or talk her way into a higher-level class, is there?
