rape culture?

In the non Mormon culture, there is a set of problems.
If a woman is raped, often she is not believed, not listened to, not tested, and the humiliation is such that she will often delay reporting until there is no evidence.
Against this. there are times when a woman recants, and a guy, after serving years or decades in jail, or on a sex predator list, is let go. That she has harmed her sisters as well as the guy is evident, calls for punishment meet the fact that if she would be punished for recanting, she would likely not do so.

One of the things I have seen is that Mormon culture is complete and cohesive. It has its own solutions to common problems of dating etc. Within the culture, things generally work.

So, what is the cultural response to an accusation of rape? Do the women feel safe to report it or do they feel humiliated? Are they tested, are test kits in every police station?
Is she listened to?
And for that matter, is there anything that I am missing?
Lastly, is there anything that the non Mormon cultures should copy/aspire to?

Been thinking on the best way to respond to this - especially since I am in no way an expert on this matter.

The problems you described about rape in non-Mormon culture seem to be prevalent in every culture, Mormon included. It's terrifying for victims to come to terms with what happened, let alone have the courage to act on it and face their abuser in court. If they do get that far, it's even harder to prove their accusation has credibility, and to collect evidence that will hold up in court. For every person willing to support and help the victim, someone else seems to pop up to help and support their abuser. No matter who you are or the circumstances, if you're a rape victim the deck is stacked against you to get justice.

Mormons haven't found the answers to these problems. No one culture's found the answers to these problems. Fortunately, there's a lot of good people from a lot of cultures willing to try. People who actively fight each day to protect victims from their abusers, to improve the systems we have in place, to address the shortcomings in our culture that make it difficult to address these crimes. We can't all be on the front line each day for this fight, but I believe we're all capable of doing something that will help: listen, and be kind.

As you said, many victims are scared of sharing their story, and the consequences that would bring. It's difficult to hear these stories without making some kind of judgement ourselves. But if we all got into the habit of listening to these stories, and being kind to those who shared them, I believe it would go a long way towards improving things.

Yeah, that.
In some cultures this is a much more serious problem then others.
A Baptist group has just got new leadership, younger leadership, and has repented of ignoring/trivializing their women. So at some point their culture was not listening so well.
Do you feel that the Mormon culture listens better or average or worse then the typical US culture?

I don't believe in a 'typical US.' One thing I've learned from traveling around the country is there are so, SO many different people and cultures packed together. The only thing that could apply to all Americans is that all living very different cultures in a country that allows us to do so. You talk to ten different people, and you'll get ten different ideas and experiences, regardless of their background.

As far as how much people listen to victims today, I believe everyone's willing to do so. It's easy to ignore a story heard from the news or third party, but rarely will a person ignore a victim directly approaching them for help. Guess it ties into my belief people are inherently good, and want to help.
