Learning to play instruments Empty Learning to play instruments

So I own an Epiphone Thunderbird 4 String bass, that my brother gave me when he bough his Warwick 6 String bass. I've never had much interest in playing it, it's sat in its case collecting dust. It's on it's last set of strings, it's out of tune, and one of the strap connecting points is falling out. Lately however it's been hanging over my shoulder and in tune. But, I've been finding a problem, any song I want to learn is either too easy (such as almost anything by Judas Priest, because they're all basically open E string 8th notes), or too complicated (such as Gimme Three Steps by Lynyrd Skynyrd). Of course the ratings of too this or that is based solely on my skill level.

Anyone else here play an instrument, or learning to, or want to?
