The J.A.M. wrote:Ugh. Another arranged marriage?
An "arranged marriage" would be an agreement between two families to have their offspring marry each other (with said offspring getting little say in the matter). I think the bishop is just telling Thomas that he should start looking for a significant other, not betrothing him to anybody.
...Buuut that's totally still an "ugh" in my opinion.

Yeah, just as well. As if GETTING a significant other was just like getting an appliance or something.

I thought that was the best way to take a joke.

Lots of desperately single -women- anyway! Looks like the desperation meter at least is way over on the women's side. (I think that's kinda sad actually.)

Mismatched gender ratios are actually a common occurrence in LDS wards. If you're interested, here's an interesting article about it: http://time.com/dateonomics/

Definitely an interesting article; thank you. I had not known there was such an unbalance in gender of unmarried people in the LDS, or the Jewish community. Thinking about the author's explanation, I think we almost certainly have a similar unbalance in the non-LDS world; it's just not as pronounced or remarked on since we don't have such pressure to marry early and have large families. (Makes me think of Helen and her Sisters' troubles!)

An alternative to the meat market? Let me guess, Institute?

1) Aaaw, Tom's shy. That's kinda adorable. Also a little Cat-like.
2) Looking forward to seeing more of Lance, he seems like a bit of a mischief-maker. xD
3) Is relief society essentially meetings about community service?
Oh, and thank you for sharing that article, Ellen-Natalie! It was an interesting read.

Lance seems to be pretty popular. I take it he's sat in on Relief Society before?

Ellen-Natalie; you draw pretty horse and mouse girls! And prey types are usually not my favorites.
