Hah! I used to hide books under the covers too! :-) (Not at all surprised by the decorator. ;-))

The move did shake up my schedule a bit, but now that we're unpacked and settling in I'm getting back into it Smile

June is an awesome month, and I want to try drawing two Ice Queen pages today. Finished pages 4 and 5 today, and here's a my favorite panel:

"Uh... yeah. Any of the level 1 spells on the list there."

"I wanna cast... Magic Missile!"

Doing some math, and if I sketch 2 pages a day this comic should be completely penciled by the end of the month. A couple of my favorite pages drawn this week:

Started falling behind this week, so this weekend will be alternating between my normal drawing schedule and catching up.

Just a few days left, and over half of the pages sketched. Hopefully a weekend of sketching will help finish things up!

Looks like someone has successfully refrained from punching someone else!  Laughing

Singles ward sounds/looks like a 'meat market' for wives/husbands. Isn't that supposed to be something women(men?) hate?

Brief update on Ice Queen Progress

Post  Ellen-Natalie on Thu Jul 10, 2014 11:36 am

Didn't finish sketching pages in June like I'd hoped, but it definitely rocketed this project off after being on the ground for so long. I'm trying to get the sketches for this comic finished this week, so I can start in on inking.

Now that I've got a better idea of what the pages look like, it's easier to tell how much time is needed to ink/color/add text to them. And frankly, that will take longer than initially estimated. (Though thanks to experimenting in the current FE arc, I have been finding ways to ink and color pages faster.) Because of this, I'm switching my production schedule up a bit - I originally intended to finish Ice Queen first and move on to finishing the Volume 1 book. (here's the link if you don't recall what that is: http://furryexperience.forumotion.com/t415-remember-that-top-secret-project) Now, I'm going to overlap their schedules a bit, this time with the goal of having Volume 1 ready to print first instead of Ice Queen. This is because Volume 1 is overall closer to completion. I'll continue posting progress in this thread, and create a new one for those interested in following Volume 1's progress.

It's my hope that by changing my production schedule this way, both projects will be completed this year, and ready in time for a convention next year.

Ink Color Schemes

Post  Ellen-Natalie on Sun Jul 20, 2014 9:27 pm

The new color scheme used in the current FE story arc to show flashbacks has also been an experiment for Ice Queen! This is because three timelines are going on at once in the story - Dad and Cat's present, the Bedtime story Dad is telling Cat, and his own memories as he's telling the story. To help differentiate these timelines, different color schemes will be used for each one - full colors and black ink for Cat and Dad's present, a tinted blue scheme for the Bedtime story, and a tinted reddish earth color for the memories.

However, it's important to find the basic blue and earth color that won't clash when next to each other, and still be able to work effectively in portraying the characters. Below is some color experiments to help determine which colors work best on their own and together:

Inked and Colored page 6

Finished coloring/inking a page whose original sketch was posted earlier. Still has some tweaks to work out, but otherwise is starting to come together.

At Houston ComicCon

Post  Ellen-Natalie on Fri Aug 29, 2014 9:06 am

My friend Jem asked if I wanted to come to Comic Con with her and her boss, Chad Hardin. 0.0 (If you don't know who he is, google his awesome work drawing Dragon Age and Harley Quinn comics!) Because he's also got a deadline, the three of us had an all - night drawing session, and I was able to make some progress on more Ice Queen! Remember this page?

I meant to post this earlier... I find the HP reference hilarious. Also it took me FAR too long to realise why the mice look a little off: they're digitigrade, something we haven't seen in the FE universe until now. Shocked

Oh my gosh. It's like Harry, Ron, and Hermione. In mouse form. And is that a reference to the Sorcerer's Stone I see? And another one to the Marauder's Map? xD

These mice look a lot more mouse-y and less anthropomorphous than the usual FE cast. There's the feet, like Latrans said, but also the lack of pants and the general shape of the body. The eye style's a little different and rather cute, too. I like it.

Finally reached a significant milestone

Post  Ellen-Natalie on Sun Sep 14, 2014 10:47 am

All of the Ice Queen comic pages are sketched and ready to be inked! Laughing bounce cheers

Though the Volume 1 project is currently taking priority, I still want to try getting one IQ page inked/colored a week. And of course I'll keep posting their results here! In the meantime, another sketch from the last batch of pages:
