Same.  I have a tab with 15 or so webcomics, and I knew none of these.  I need to add more to my collection

David, I'm going to need wigs costumes, and the internet.
I have all that in my room!
Be careful david!  Webcomics are a powerful force to be reckoned with!  Whatever you do, don't reference furry experience (especially this arc!), or you may cause a recursive circular reference, put into a feedback loop, which may result in having to break the 4th wall to resolve itself!

If its anything other anthro webcomics Hunter will eventually wind up naked which, coincidentally, is something he's good at. Laughing

The Webcomics

Post  Renadt on Tue Jul 02, 2013 2:11 am

THe first is a mystery to me, but the second pair, Fisk Black and Lucy Black-? are from Jay Naylor (and are related in said series), while Arty and Sid are from Swords and Sausages. THe only thing I pull up about Irma is Imy comics.

I don't recognize any of the comic references either; I guess I'm not very comic savvy. x) Oh well. Perhaps I should do a bit of research on them later.

I look forward to seeing what crazy/awesome/amusing stunt Hunter pulls (pretty sure it'll be a webcomic cosplay, but what kind of character will he cosplay?) to please his new boss.

I'll admit I'm surprised at the number of people who recognize Lucy and Fisk...

My original guess for 'Arty' was going to be for 'Vinci & Arty' (now defunct, though they do show up in Jack) but I think 'Swords and Sausages' is definitely a better choice.

I'm afraid I'm a bit stumped on 'Irma' though...

Heh, I've had a lot of people asking about these references-I'll have to list them all at the end of this arc ^^;

This page referenced Irma, Genesis's treat-snatching pet rat from 'Little Tales.' I know it's bizarre cameo-she appears briefly in the comic in anthro form. But she's also been a favorite feature at Genesis' livestreams. Smile

Also referenced is Lucy and Fisk, as many correctly guessed from Jay Naylor's 'Better Days.' (One of the first furry comics I ever read.)

And final two references were Sid from 'Broken Plot Device' and Arty from 'Vinci and Arty.' (Never even realized the SaS connections, but that's awesome-it's a 2-for-1 reference!)

Hope everyone enjoys the holiday!

Aw, man. Nice try, Hunter. Although I didn't recognize the webcomic reference; maybe Mr. Ursidae didn't either. But he's really, really into them, right? So I would think he'd be better at recognizing a reference like that than I am. Maybe something else is bothering him, I dunno. ...Wait a sec. When Luke still worked for the movie theater, Mr. Ursidae kept making webcomic reference jokes about him, but those references also involved himself. I'm guessing Hunter's picked a webcomic that Mr. Ursidae can't reference himself to, although I don't know for sure. Could that be the problem? Does Mr. Ursidae want to be part of the reference like he was with Luke?

This comic's referencing 'Bittersweet Candy Bowl!' Smile I've always liked the use of watercolors in that comic.
Course, it's probably a difficult reference since Hunter's not a gray cat. ^^; Try harder, Hunter!

Keep trying, Hunter!  But, be more subtle about it.  You're never allowed to 'pick' your own nickname.  Be subtle and then allow Mr. Ursidae to -think- he came up with it.  'Course, you can never be sure of getting quite what you were hoping for this way either... Rolling Eyes

Call me crazy, but my honest opinion is that Hunter would be best off if he were to approach Mr. Ursidae and ask him directly about it rather than try to spend all his time guessing at the solution.

But then we wouldn't have much of a story arc would we.Wink

My heart wants to go out to the Spirit of Hunter, because I know exactly how he feels in a way.

I keep saying this, but communication is hard.

I get the feeling this is annoying Mr. Ursidae more than helping. I gotta agree with Latrans at this point; Hunter should probably give the cosplaying a rest and ask his boss what's bothering him. Even if the prospect of doing so is intimidating for Hunter, which it may very well be, I think it'd be worth mustering up the courage for.

I'd like to see this go on for one or two more pages. After that, I would advance the plot and see Hunter take the direct approach.

man, you'd think he'd try to dress up as someone that's actually his species. I think he'd probably make a pretty good Peanut if he pulled it off.
