FE Presents: Cat
Hope everyone enjoyed the Fan Comic Event! The move to Tennessee's been (mostly) successful! More details about the trip and the Fan Comics Side Story release will be posted later this week. In the meantime, this next arc starting up is a simple one, showing insights to Cat's ideas, fears, and vocabulary.
Re: FE Presents: Cat
LOL! That is just so, so wrong!
Edit: Ooh! You're in Tennessee?! That's where I live!

Re: FE Presents: Cat
Hehe... I never thought of weed like Cat does, although I used to think "weed" was synonymous with any old cigarette. Actually, I may have not actually known what marijuana was at the time, I can't remember. Anyway, I'm sure Dawn will figure out what Cat actually means... after a somewhat confusing and awkward conversation. Maybe. Hopefully.
One of my colleagues (acquaintances? friends?) at my internship mentioned that someone actually brought weed brownies to a school bake sale and, naturally, got caught--they were trying to sell them for twenty bucks apiece or something like that. Talk about a crazy stunt to attempt.

Re: FE Presents: Cat
It's ancient Ute word. Similar words are Jeet and Squeet, which mean, "Did you eat yet?" and, "Let us go eat."

Re: FE Presents: Cat
...Last time I dressed up for Halloween, I was a sorcerer. If supernatural forces were to transform me into that, the results would be so EPIC.
*cough* Anyway, Cat's got quite the imagination, huh? And this arc is quite an interesting change from the typical FE story, having Cat talk to us (or so it sorta feels like) about some of the random things that go on in her head.

Not very surprising, this IS the girl who thought the whiteboard was possessed after all.

J.A.M.:
Given that she's a freshman in her first year of college, I'd guess 19. I would have gone with 18, but we haven't seen her celebrate a birthday yet so she likely turned 19 in the months between graduating high school and starting college.

Are you saying the Whiteboard isn't possessed?

To J.A.M: That's a good question. ^^; However, she recently graduated high school and is just starting college.
Re: FE Presents: Cat
I saw something similar a couple years ago. One of my friends likes to text. A LOT. It got to the point that she would occasionally forget that her phone could, you know, make phone calls.

She didn't. FVU is a Public college as opposed to FYU, which is Private. The J.A.M. wrote:I'm wondering how how she managed to get into a PRIVATE college...

EDIT: Oh wait, I got ninja'd, that's a good point by Slim Shadow: she attends a public university. Not that that necessarily means it's a bad or uncompetitive school. In any case...The J.A.M. wrote:I'm wondering how how she managed to get into a PRIVATE college...
Derpy moments like this have little to do with the academic ability or success displayed by a student, at least from my experience. Take me, for example. I was one of those kids who took practically nothing but honors and AP in high school, got nearly nothing but A's, got a 35 on my ACT on my first try after just doing minimal test practice on my own (at my mom's prodding) the week leading up to it, got into a pretty sweet university...
...And I have also attempted to drink milk while lying down. And, after not having had one in a while and consequentially apparently forgetting how to eat one, tried to crush the shell of a hardboiled egg in my bare hand instead of just cracking it against the tabletop. (I succeeded. It was somewhat messy, but I was pleased with myself until Dad came up to me and was like, "WHAT THE HECK DID YOU DO?! No, no, you just crack it against the edge--NO NOT THE PLATE--the tabletop, here, like THIS, now take this fresh, non-mangled one.") 'Nuff said.

Re: FE Presents: Cat
:-) Well; it's been said by plenty that Albert Einstein was long on intellect and short on common sense.
A friend of mine said his uncle was hired by the government to be Einstein's "fishing buddy." Bascially; whenever Albert wanted to go out and do things, this guy went along to make sure he came back in one piece. Apparently Al was prone to go out in the snow wearing a t-shirt, and such-like things.

Heh, the majority of what Cat is saying in this arc have been things I've said at one point or another.
In fact, here's a fun game for this arc-can you guess which one of the comics is not something I've said in real life?

Re: FE Presents: Cat
I actually tend to play that game for a lot of the filler pages for Cat (I started it on the one where she realized she had a functioning skull in her head. It was too close to home for me to not be real.)Ellen-Natalie wrote:Heh, the majority of what Cat is saying in this arc have been things I've said at one point or another.

Okay, go ahead, Cat.
I DARE YOU.
Better yet, buy PlayGIRL. That should be more to your liking

While never having been a subscriber to Playboy, I have read a fair share of issues from the pile a family friend owned. Yes, actually read them. From what I recall (it was a good decade or more ago) they really weren't bad at all. Granted the photo spreads didn't hurt.
Of course those were older issues and I'm not sure how they would stack up against today's fare.
