Hmm
I guess my great-aunt doesn't know what she is talking about. She told me before that Mormons don't celebrate holidays or birthdays.

She might have gotten Mormons confused with Jehovah's Witnesses, it's been known to happen sometimes.

Oh man! I LOVE those Halloween stores!
One store near me had rented an old Path Mark store. They actually set up some of the life-size Halloween props inside the freezers.
They also had the butcher and the bloody body parts behind the counter. I wanted to get a job there, but they already had enough people working there.
I would have settled for just standing around all day dressed in costume scaring everyone XD

Awesome! Did they do that this year, or a previous one? (If it's this year, I MUST have an address! For Google Maps, at least~)
I must say
I am very happy to see Cat, Ronnie, and Vicki again. Don't get me wrong, Hunter is great but I did miss the others.

It was last year. Sadly I haven't heard or seen anything about one going up near me this year... I hoping they're just waiting for October 1st. I love Halloween so much especially since it's also my bday =3

It kinda looks like that one character from Freakazoid... you know... the one with the candle and the creepy face, and when you say his name he haunts you and takes you away... Anyone?

YAAY, Whiteboard! And it knows of what it speaks too! (2 whiteboard appearances; 2 messages... Coincidence?? ;-)
Tesserie's right, Ellen-Natalie; your style is still improving. Vickie looks particularly good all through this one, and Cat is really nice in the 2nd and 6th panels.

YEAH! Halloween is my second favorite time of the year! The only thing to ever beat it is Thanksgiving.

The thing that caught my attention is the two pairs of shoes left beside the entrance door, presumably Ronnie's and Vikki's footwear. This closely parallels the Japanese convention of removing outdoor shoes upon entering a home or school. There is often a recessed well in the entranceway for one's shoes, called a genkan. Entire pigeonhole compartments serve the same purpose in public schools. The students then wear slipper-like uwabaki when going from class to class.
A most curious convention to find in Mormon Utah, though not a bad one. It does make household floor and carpet care easier.

Is it bad that I find myself really wondering which class it is that has an official text titled "Textbook"?

I noticed that too, but didn't say anything. In the "Sneak Peaks" thread the books' names are "Health Textbook."Krysta wrote:Is it bad that I find myself really wondering which class it is that has an official text titled "Textbook"?
Shoes: The girls may have just decided together to go (mostly) shoeless in the apartment, or at least that room, in order to keep the carpet cleaner longer. Married friends of mine here in North Carolina did that in their house.
Re: FE Page 231
Textbook: They were originally going to say 'Health Textbook' on the cover and 'Be Healthy' on the back cover. However, when it came time to put in the text I thought just 'Textbook' would be funnier. Eight hours of sleep later, the gag kinda wore off on me.
Shoes: I don't think it's a Mormon thing to take off your shoes, but nearly every friend's house I visited growing up had a family rule about taking shoes off. What I found most unusual was that shoe basket fad-for awhile, it seemed every time you entered a doorway there was a fancy, sturdy basket where a carved figure or kitsch sign was politely instructed you to place your shoes.

I'm actually kind of getting the giggles thinking of other publications from the same company that released "Textbook"
Like the new romance novel sweeping the shelves... "Book"
And who could forget the many wonderful comic book adventures of... Hero!

Very true! Those don't look like digitigrade feet in panel one either. :-)[

I actually went to my very first haunted house yesterday. Actually it was more a park than a house as there were numerous different mazes and areas, each with a well built and unique flavor as well as "zombie paintball" and a "How to Train a Zombie" stunt show. It was awesome and the guys had put a LOT of really good work into the production.
Unfortunately our nine year old wasn't as pleasantly thrilled by the spectacle as I was.
Also, YAY! Whiteboard! I love that thing...
