I love how this backfired on Mom And I'm glad Hunter realized that he's that much closer to being a full-grown adult. Hats off to you, Ellen.

When my son moved out to collage seven years ago there was no room for me to go with them to help him move in to the dorm (over-loaded van and trailer, no other vehicle.) So I just said good-bye and good-luck while shaking his hand. After they drove away I sat with my back to the front door and cried. The same when my daughter followed him a year later.

It is hard, so very very hard on a parents heart when their children leave. So very hard.

I sympathise with you, Kenoscope. I hope yours is the kind of relationship where they stay close to you even when they're far away!

On the other hand; I love Mom in the last panel.

Very good expressions. I love the big picture of Hunter. I can also feel his mom's pain in the last panel. Great job on this one. If this is the last comic for this arc, I feel that it tied things up nicely.

Well, that worked out quite nicely for Hunter, huh? He gets to keep doing what he loves but more on his own terms and with more time for his schoolwork, and his other job provides good pay without making him miserable. As for his mom, it looks like when she was pushing him to get a better-paying job and think of his future, perhaps she wasn't properly considering what that entailed herself; she seems so taken aback when Hunter talks about leaving the nest. She'll have to get used to the idea, though; I've heard it said that if you really love someone, you're willing to let them go free, and I think that applies here.
