Re: FE page 196
...Oh wow. Vikki is bristling in that last panel--look at her tail and the back of her head! That's a really nice touch to emphasize the stress this near-confrontation has been putting on her. After all, if that conflict were to come to a boil, poor Vikki would probably get caught in the middle... It's pretty clear now why Vikki didn't want Ronnie visiting or even knowing about her roommates--drastically different views and a really short fuse tend to be a recipe for an explosion. And I love Ronnie's expression in the last panel; it's not only comedic but also revealing of how taken aback she is by Vikki's reaction.
You know, I think Vikki's living situation might be influencing her interest in Mormon culture as well--learning about the culture would probably help her get along with and better understand her extremist Mormon roommates, which would make living with them somewhat easier, I imagine.
Oh, and in the second-to-last panel, I think it's supposed to be "blessings of marriage," not "blessings marriage." That's the only error I spotted, though.

And alas, Vikki grabs Ronnie's arm to avoid her pressing the hot button.

It looks like Viki is more scared of Ronnie Corrupting the apartment than the apartment wierding out Ronnie.

2000... warriors.... I don't think there's going to be any when you get there, hun. There has to be at least 2000 virtuous women who have died since the book was written, right? Oh dear...
... Is this a real belief? I am afraid I don't own a book of Morman anymore.

Aren't Mormon men allowed to have more than one wife?

LOL! I think that ended well over a hundred years ago.kanna172003 wrote:...Aren't Mormon men allowed to have more than one wife?
Hmm... I wonder if Monday nights might be the night Vikki's roomies practice their missionary speech.

Monday nights are considered Family Home Evening, where people in households and congregations have a spiritual thought, and then an activity, usually a board or card game or a fun athletic competition, or in some cases, do charity work. I don't know about Mormon dorms, but in my singles branch, we just have it at our chapel.

In the apartments and dorms we have small "families" of people who have their own FHE stuff.

Ah, so Vikki is aware that Ronnie knows how to push the Berserk Button. We know that Ronnie used to love pushing Cat's buttons, and evidently still does: see the installment from 24 January 2012. Therefore, inviting Ronnie into this nice residence with these fine and proper Mormon folk is much like asking a man with the hiccups to carry nitro glycerin: an invitation to Disaster.
And my compliments to The JAM for recognizing the canid mechanism of raising hackles: the fur along the thoracic spine and across the shoulders. This is a significant reflex among wolves, coyotes, foxes and such for determining pack order, and for "bulking up" for a fight. Although Catherine has shown similar signs when under stress, in felines, it's mostly the fur along the lumbar spine and the tail that rises.
Though, at this point, I must wonder: where is Vikki going to take Ronnie now? That sitting room has an almost Japanese compactness.

I think Cat would probably fit right in with this group. But then again, maybe not since she didn't like the "money-grubbing" Mormons that came on TV and considering these three have that God is Watching poster, they are likely the type who'll fall for the money grubbing Mormons.
FUN FACT: The "God is Watching" poster was advertised on page 136

Though, in fairness, every other faith has had its share of subversives, opportunists and hucksters. A New York City rabbi was arrested for fraud by siphoning funds meant for charity into a condo in Florida. There was that whole Jim Bakker scandal with his "700 Club." Some Catholic diocese have been tacitly obfuscating pedophile priests in their ranks. It seems that wherever the Lord assembles people in community, harmony and kinship, the devil finds ways to subvert and corrupt it. Firmness in one's beliefs is fine and laudable; but keep an eye peeled, nonetheless. Not everyone plays an honest game.
