Scary Cat is scarey. Ronnie opened the door to another dimension
Ok, back to being serious. The cat and mouse scare me, the horse looks like she doesn't want to be there at all and is just as weirded out as Ronnie is. The new Cat seems to be the leader or dominant of the three.
Now we see why Vikki NEVER wants to be home on ( Monday? ). Her room mates seem to be way too religious for her tastes ( except the horse ). From what I am seeing the horse is not as bold as Vikki in trying to get away from her room mates. Maybe something else going on there that has not been revealed?
Overall, Great comic and love the expression of Ronnie and Vikki. Would like to see more of the Horse ( have a name for her yet?, can we submit names for her, if she does not have one? ) and how she ended up room mates with the others.
Edit: Love the outfits of "scary cat" and non psychotic mouse. The horse seems to be more traditional than the other two.

Definitely, but it may be revealed in a future issue. Who knows.

My gosh... They even have the "God is Watching" poster. Nice brick joke, Ellen.
So, Let's look through... We have, behind Vikki and Ronnie: Heart wall craft, pic of Provo Temple, and I think a copy of The Family: A Proclamation to the World, and behind the three girls: the "God is Watching" poster, righteous words, and Angel Moroni.
Yup... From a non-LDS standpoint, this is a veeeery creepy place to be in, especially with smiles like that.

OMG, Vikki is living with SOUL STEALERS! How else can you be that young and have the tastes of your great grandmothers?

Well
My theory is perhaps the horse lady is an actual Mormon and the cat and mouse ladies are new and are embracing everything about Mormonism that they can. Maybe the reason Vicki was drawn to anything Mormon was because she was trying to understand them.

Oh my. The way Ronnie is all imploded and gripping the divan seat speaks volumes. That is a pose of abject terror. Of course, her hosts are smiling to her; however, cannibals will also smile at people ... especially those they consider yummy.
I almost have to ask: is FVU more like a community college, or a Mormon indoctrination center?

Actually it's named after a public institution that Ellen renamed due to legal purposes. If you want to talk about FVU's rival school also renamed for same reasons, that was church founded and funded.
With any institution where Mormons are present, whether public or church owned, there will be those Mollies that can creep the bejeebus out of the non-religious. Trust me, As a relatively recent convert living in a ward full of baptized-at-8's, they kinda creep me out.

They need a White-Board. I can't imagine the things it would say, but the potential...!

Is Vikki's knee supposed to be green?
Anyways, on to the comic. I've been in houses like that, but never an apartment, or at least short-term tenancies (such as student held apartments). This leads me to speculate that part of Vikki's scholarship is being hosted by these three who may not actually be students themselves. As for how to best deal with situations like this, my usual response is to crank up my Weirdness Sensor and pay kindness unto kindness.

Ha! I hadn't noticed that. Amusing that it's the same shade as Ronnie's dress too.Latrans wrote:Is Vikki's knee supposed to be green?

"kindness unto kindness?" Just to be sure it hasn't gone over my head, would you expand on that just a bit please? It sounds like a fun(?) or amusing response.
(Actually have a guy at work who doesn't know when to stop. Unfortunately, giving it back to him just seems to encourage him!)
Re: FE Page 193
It simply means that I accept that they are being nice, welcoming people and treat them accordingly. Doesn't mean you have to keep up to their level of devotion of course, but outright shutting someone down because their brand of 'nice and welcoming' is a bit odd to you isn't the way to go about things. I may want to get out of there as much as the next guy, but I'll still smile and shake hands on my way out the door.

Crap! Fixed now. This seems to happen every time I work on comic pages past midnight...I'm noticing a pattern.
Re: FE Page 193
well, Going to bed at a decent hour tends to help, but I know how impossible that is when one is in college.

Ah! I did misunderstand; but, yes, I agree your way is the proper response. No reason to be mean to someone for their beliefs when they are honestly trying to be nice to you.
The guy at work I mentioned was not really being that way. He wasn't trying to be mean either, he just didn't know when enough was enough for a joke (over a month!), and when pushed for some relief denied it was even a joke.
Re: FE Page 193
Good heavens, that is... indescribable. I think the breaking point for me is that it is the Provo Temple. I'm fine with having a Temple on the wall, it just shouldn't be the one that is five miles away from where you live. I think this page captures so elegantly the essence of everyone I have ever met who is even a little bit like this and rolls them into one, how horrifying.

Just thought I'd mention the matching sofas. In campus-managed student housing. It's like something from The Stepford Wives.
Now, New York State run campuses also have student housing, and in cases where the dorms are furnished, it's always with Corcraft furniture. And Corcraft, as the name suggests, is made by convicts in various state correctional facilities. Therefore, the furnishings tend to be uniform throughout the housing complex, but it's never this ornate. Clearly, Utah is ... different.
