*sigh* It never fails. Stay up past 1 a.m. and there's spelling errors.
But it's fixed now, see?

Yes, yes you should. A little sad that G.E.L.F. doesn't have a forum as I would totally join it (though the individual pages do allow for comments).

Okay, Ronnie; that's -one- thing out of the entire store. Ignore it and enjoy the rest, or at least let Vikki enjoy it.

So, is "that display" based on one in 'real life'?

Judging by what we've seen so far, the entire store is 'We're so Mormon, we make Joseph Smith look Pagan". Personally, I'm with Ronnie. I can't stand stores like that. To me, when you're trying that hard to be something, it feels exceedingly superficial and just helps pronounce the hypocrisy many people foist upon the world. To quote an image I saw once, "I've nothing against God. It's His fan club I can't stand."

That said, I also understand why these stores exist. They cater to a niche market and to be successful they will fill that niche as perfectly as they can. To give an identical example from the other end of the spectrum, there are stores like Hot Topic. They cater to a niche, though it's significantly different than a religious book store. Yes, I avoid Hot Topic as well.

I laughed pretty hard when reading this-no revokings whatsoever, Latrans ^^

It's less tactful than displays I've seen, but promotes the same message. And the print in this particular comic has been mentioned on a previous page-imaginary gold star to whoever knows where.

But I really don't get what the joke is. Can someone explain what is going on? Latran's explanation really doesn't click with me.

It just bugs me when retailers claim their product is what your family needs to build a spiritually strong home. And it happens a lot around here-particularly when it comes to selling artwork.

Everybody knows that spending money on tacky, low quality, over priced things is one of the best ways to be a better Christian. It's second only to giving money to that guy on TV with a microphone who likes to wave a Bible at the camera. Razz

Doing stuff like that doesn't even come close to things like honestly trying to better yourself as a person or some good, deep introspection and/or prayer. Right?

EPIC!

I'll set one up on Planet Furry and setup a link on the Imperial GELF page.

Cheers!!

If you hadn't noticed yet, I'm there now (have been since moments after you opened the GELF section). I must say, that's QUITE the extensive board there. It's going to take me a while to get caught up with everything.

Planet Furry's been around a LONG time. Most of the forums are pretty much idle. You might just look and see which ones have been posted to in the last week or so and go from there.

Cheers!!

That's kind of my plan. I'm delving through Aslaug's works right now because there was a post made in her section just after I joined. Figure as things get posted to I'll start catching up on them, and the stuff that stays idle will be my "I'm bored" material to catch up on when I'm not doing other things.

"God is Watching" offer

Post  oneuglybunny on Mon Feb 06, 2012 11:37 pm

Oh, just remembered: this "God Is Watching" poster was one of the items hawked between the televised morning session and the later afternoon session of Conference Week. As Cat put it so deliciously distinctly, "We need to change the channel before the money-grubbing mormons come on."

The comic was uploaded on 17 May 2011. Gold star?
