Cowboys and aliens

I just finished "Cowboys and Aliens" and one thought came to my mind: This is like "Avatar" but backwards. Can anyfur see the similarities?

I can see what you mean in the sense of 'Race A comes to pilage the planet at Race B's expense'. I think there's some significantly different undertones, however.

Avatar is very much a Mighty Whitey story set in a very focused corner of a much larger Space Opera. This is helped along because it's told from the point of view of the aggressors.

Cowboys and Aliens, on the other hand is a thinly veiled excuse for Rule of Cool. The title alone says it. Cowboys and Aliens. What male over the age of three could possibly NOT enjoy something like that? On a more serious note, the story itself is more about overcoming personal differences to conquer seemingly impossible odds. This is helped along because it's told from the point of view of the defenders.

I agree with Latrans Either way it was a good movie.
